The Barrie Speed Skating Club is excited to launch Building Speed, Inspiring Bright Futures, a fundraising initiative focused on creating opportunities for children and youth to experience the sport of speed skating.

Speed skating is more than developing athletic skills—it teaches determination, resilience, teamwork, goal-setting, and confidence. Every athlete begins with a first step onto the ice, and with the right support, that first experience can become a lifelong passion and a pathway to achieving personal goals.

We want as many kids as possible to have the opportunity to participate in this sport. However, the reality is that equipment, ice time, coaching, and competition opportunities require a substantial financial investment, this creates barriers for many families. Our goal is to remove these barriers by providing financial support and greater access to speed skating, ensuring that more young athletes in our community can discover the sport, develop their skills, build confidence, and reach their full potential.  

Through Building Speed, Inspiring Bright Futures, funds raised will support:

• Equipment: Replacing outdated equipment and increasing inventory for the equipment loan program with club-owned skates and safety equipment.

• Aid in skater development: 

• Keeping youth programming affordable and accessible for families.

• Providing athlete development opportunities through training sessions and skill-building activities.

• Supporting coach education to provide high-quality instruction and mentorship.

• Growing participation in speed skating throughout Simcoe County.

Your support will help create opportunities for young athletes to build confidence, develop healthy habits, and experience the many benefits of being part of a community sport program.

Every donation makes a difference. Contributions are processed through the Ontario Sport Network's National Sport Trust Fund (NSTF-Ontario), a Canada Revenue Agency recognized charitable giving program. Eligible donations receive an official charitable tax receipt, and every dollar supports opportunities for young athletes in our program.
