BSSC MISSION STATEMENT & goals
"To provide speed skating opportunities for the citizens of Barrie in the County of Simcoe through the provision of instruction, training, competition and recreational activities."
GOALS
To promote amateur short track speed skating.
To foster an interest and participation in amateur speed skating at all levels.
To offer instruction, training, competition opportunities and recreational activities.
Meet the Coaches
Benton McNicol
Competitive skating coach
Former competitive skater with the London Speedskating Club. Has coached with his former club and Special Olympics since 2014-15. Most recently coaching Team Ontario at the 2020 and 2024 Special Olympic Winter Games, He has also been coaching with the OSSA Central Region Development HUB.
Alla Kurkin
Ukrainian national coaching certificate.
Competed Internationally and in Europe. Works with all level of skaters.
Roxanne Wright
Level 2 Speed skating, Level 1 special needs

Stephen Samek
Level 1 speed skating
Skated competitively for 10 years with the Regina Speed Skating Club on a National Level (both short and long-track). Was also on the Saskatchewan short-track team at the Canada Winter Games.
